Der Geschichtspark Ayutthaya - im Jahr 1976 wurde das Gebiet zum Geschichtspark erklärt, was die weiteren Restaurierungsarbeiten beschleunigte. 1981 wurde der Park in die Liste des Weltkulturerbes der UNESCO aufgenommen. Wat Mahathat: war das rituelle Zentrum der Stadt.
